East beats West 88-86 in McDonald’s All American Game

Prolific Prep seniors Derrion Reid, Aiden Sherrell, and Zoom Diallo were all picked this season as McDonald’s All Americans representing the West team. The game was played last night at the Toyota Center in Houston Texas, home of the Houston Rockets, and the East team came back from a big deficit and beat the West team 88-86. Derik Queen (Maryland), and Dylan Harper (Rutgers) were named co-MVP’s for the game.

Sherrell and Reid have both committed to play for coach Nate Oats at Alabama next season and Diallo has decided to stay close to home and play for the Washington Huskies. With the three players earning the nominations to play on the McDonald’s All American squad this year it brings the Prolific Prep total up to 12 players all time being nominated for the prestigious event.

After the game the boys along with coach Bernardi flew to Indianapolis to catch up with the rest of the team as they begin their quest to win a national championship. The Chipotle Nationals begins on Thursday with the top 8 high school basketball teams in the USA trying to win the championship. Prolific Prep (#3 seed) tips off against Link academy on Thursday at 6pm EST. The game will be televised on ESPNu. It is a win or go home event with the semi-finals on Friday and the championship on Saturday.
